Pizza in Kenora

Today, I surprised Sach with a trip to Kenora. Just a chance to escape MB for a while. We enjoyed each other's company for the long drive over... and just went to Boston Pizza for dinner and came home :)

It was beautiful seeing the city at night; the Christmas lights all aglow reflecting in the water. It was gorgeous! And then as we pulled up to BP there was a huge decorated Christmas tree in the middle of the road!

The pizza and wine was fabulous! The drive was scenice and the perfect length. The company was awesome as always heh heh ;)

I really enjoyed our mini-vacation :)

THE ENGAGEMENT

Today, I would like to announce my engagement to the most wonderful guy in my life! Sacha promised to take me flying Sunday morning, but the weather wasn't good enough, at a vain last attempt we drove down the runway to check the ceilings... clouds were at 300ft, we need over 1000... we definitely weren't going to be flying.

"While we're here, can I get some pics of you on the airstrip?" he asked.

"Sacha! You made me get up early this morning, my hair isn't done, my makeup's not done, I look like I just woke up!" But he persisted, so I gave in as long as he promised not to put the pics on Facebook.

I got out of the car and met him on the other side of the car (the runway side) and waited while he got the camera out of the backseat. Except it wasn't the camera it was a RING!!! :) He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And of course I said "yes!"

Then we took a few pix and dashed off to tell the world! We spent the evening gallavanting around town, visiting all my family and announcing our good news!!!

10 MONTHS!!!

Today was our 10 Month Anniversary! I can't believe we've been dating 10 months already, it seems like yesterday and forever all at the same time! It's hard to think of how different my life was last October. Busy with Awana, getting ready to teach the adult group on Sundays in November, the Beth Moore study had begun already I believe. I was so incredibly busy! I'm finding this year much more relaxed, even though Sacha might disagree, LOL! But even though I'm not as busy finding fulfillment in projects, I'm finding satisfaction and fulfillment in simply spending time alone with Sacha. Especially with him being gone ALL week, I crave the weekends worse than I did while going to school! It's been a HUGE change but I'm slowly accepting it :) and he's totally worth it! <3

He picked me up after work, and we went to our favorite restaurant! Think of the most classic romantic setting and yep that's us! Corner table by the window, sitting next to each other, holding hands as we stare into each other's eyes and tell each other how much we missed the other. A little flirting and footsie as we waited for our meal. Discussing future plans as well as the day to day stuff. Gosh, I love these special times together!

Thanksgiving

As most of you know, yesterday was Thanksgiving. Sunday was my family gathering, it was big and loud and filled with many good things to eat. Such as turkey, jello, mashed potatoes, salads, creamed corn, stuffing, ham, and many other delicious things. But dessert was the best, a pumpkin cheese cake and a sugary fruit salad, and of course pumpkin pie! I was so stuffed afterward even though I had promised myself some restraint. We were eating left overs for days after. It was nice that Grama came over twice to help us eat them :)

What Kind of Gift?

Hey everyone! Got the surprise of my life today! :)
Sach & I got our first wedding present! LOL! NO we are NOT engaged, but there was a student leaving from Harv's that bought us a gift and said we could think of it as a wedding gift. It's a beautiful bamboo wind chime; it sounds amazing!! Anyways, I just felt like sharing that tidbit. It made my day! :)

Molly & Me

A little black dog showed up at work the other day, she had tags but there was no answer at the numbers we called. So she needed a place to stay for night. I called Brad & Korine and they decided to keep her for the night and call the vet office the next day.

It was amazing how this adorable lost dog was so well tempered and trained. She would sit on command and follow complete strangers, right at their heels. She was terribly friendly with the kids and never barked all night that B&K had her.

Korine got a hold of the owner... and the previous owner. They both asked if I wanted to keep her, poor thing! Apparently, she was found by Norway house as a young pregnant pup in poor health. Shelly took her in a nursed her back to health, but when they moved back to Steinbach, they weren't able to keep her. Which is too bad because she was their favorite dog out of 5!! She's been trying to find a home for her ever since then, but nothing has been working out.

She wanted to know if I wanted her, which of course I do, but I'm not able to keep her at my parents' place. Shelly said she wouldn't mind holding her until some time next year when I'm ready for her. And why wouldn't I want her? She's house broken, trained, spade, amiable, and adorable!!!

So, I have my name on her and I am welcome to visit her any time I want. My mind is filled with images of Sach and I taking Molly for walks and playing in the park, and sitting inside by the fire place during the depths of winter. I've wanted a dog since I was 7, after my last one ran away, but was NEVER allowed a pet since then. I'm soooo happy Sacha said we could keep her!!! I can hardly wait til next year when I can bring her home! :)

My First Post

Well, now, it's about time I started a blog; I thought keeping a blog of what's going on with Sacha and I in Canada would be a great way to keep everyone informed of the latest news! :)

It's my 4th month working at Harv's Air already, still enjoying it immensely. The people I work with are great! I learn something new from every student that walks in the door and I am being stretched in all aspects. One of the main things right now is my 'attempt' at learning French, which I feel like I see no progress in. Marc or Greg will say something to me and in French and I'll stare at them for the next 5 minutes trying to configure a reply in French, but by the time I've come up with something to say, the moment has passed and I look like an idiot staring off into space while I'm suppose to be working. LOL! I'm so thankful for Sacha's encouragement, it makes it easier to press on. He said if I moved somewhere I could only speak French for 3 weeks, I would be fluent.... hmmm, might be worth a try ;)

Sacha's nearly finished his first month at Steve's. He is enjoying it, I have confirmation. :)Admittedly, it's not flying, but it's not bad. C'est bon! He received his first paycheck yesterday so the feeling is more like 'tres bon'! He's looking at possibly moving out of Keon and Christal's in November if we can get everything in order. We spent two hours yesterday trying to come up with a descent budget to allow us to live and to save money, tough stuff. Part of growing up I guess.

Things can only improve from today, and things are improved from yesterday!
I have great hope for our future, and many exciting plans!

Bonne Nuit!
